"What do you know?" She asked, her voice like thunder.
She was surrounded by dark clouds and rain. Harder to see her cry in the rain, I suppose.
She guarded her heart closely, letting no one near. But I reached out anyway. To touch her, gently. So gently, in fear that she might break.
She felt warm, but still so cold. I could see in her eyes she was fading. I wanted to keep the light alive. But I didn't know how. So I simply said,
"Nothing."
And she was gone.
"What do you believe in?" She asked as she stared up at the night sky.
The moon bathed her in light and I could see the tracks of her tears down her cheeks.
I watched as she reached up and traced constellations with her finger tips, as her eyes searched the galaxy above for answers that neither of us had.
I reached over and took her hand in mine, relishing in the warmth of her touch and looked back to the sky, searching for answers to my own questions.
"Everything."
